How to Reset Honeywell Thermostats

Honeywell Thermostats are a well-renowned name in the industry. Majority of the Air Conditioner owners trust Honeywell for their thermostats. But no matter how good, technological devices tend to malfunction sometimes and need rebooting to work up to the mark. Honeywell Thermostats have made their way into multiple technological appliances including ovens, refrigerators, incubators, laboratories, and HVAC systems.

Signs that you can look for in a glitched thermostat can be hiked-up electricity bills, failure to trigger your air conditioner and heat furnace, and varied temperature of your residence.

Methods of Resetting the Thermostat

Three methods can be adapted in order to reset a thermostat:

Factory Reset: This method will reset all the previously stored settings of a thermostat resulting in the device returning to its initial factory settings.

Wi-Fi Reset: This method will reset all the connectivity details of your previous devices. It will allow you to set up new devices with new networks and mitigate other connectivity problems.

Schedule Reset: Schedule Reset is meant to reset the scheduled settings of your thermostat. It will remove any previous setting and you’ll have to reprogram your thermostat’s schedule.

  • Make sure to turn off the power from the main circuit to avoid any risks of electrocuting. You can do it from the breaker box of the home. If you’re unaware of the particular circuit for the thermostat, just turn off the power of the whole house for a matter of minutes.
  • Unmount the thermostat from the wall by carefully lifting it from the wall.
  • Remove the batteries from the thermostat and place them again in the opposite direction (positive terminal to the negative terminal and negative terminal to the positive terminal).
  • Wait for at least 10 seconds to let the reset process happen.
  • Now again remove the batteries and lodge them in the initial correct way.
  • Carefully mount the system again on the wall.
  • Turn on the power from the circuit breaker and you’re good to go.

Honeywell Thermostat 4000 Series

This series of thermostats is programmable and you need to perform a factory reset to reset the thermostat.

  • Don’t turn off the thermostat in this one. Make sure that it is on.
  • Look at the left side of the user interface where you’ll find the “SET” or “PROGRAM” button. Press it and hold it for some time.
  • Find the built-in Reset button on the right side of the user interface and use a paperclip to pressure press it.
  • Hold both of the buttons for at least 5 seconds and then let go both of them and you’re all set.
  • Program the Clock and other settings in the thermostat again.

Honeywell Thermostat Reset 6000WF Series

This Honeywell thermostat belongs to a modern series of thermostats and works in pretty advanced ways. The user can access the thermostat settings from his phone, tablet, and computer. There are three ways to reset the system.

Factory Reset:

  • Look for the Up Arrow button as well as the button alongside the FAN function.
  • Press and hold both buttons for a while.
  • You’ll see some numbers on the display screen. While holding both buttons, you’ll need to change the number on the left of the display screen to 90 and on the right to 1. You can now release the buttons and press done to end the resetting process.

Honeywell Thermostats T5, T5+, and T6 Series

You can reset these models by three methods; factory, wifi reset, and schedule reset.
Factory Reset:

  • Find the “MENU” button on the thermostat and press and hold it for a while.
  • While holding the button, scroll down to find the “RESET” button.
  • Once found, you need to select it and press “OK” or “YES” to reset the thermostat.

Wifi Reset:

  • Repeat the first two steps of Factory Reset.
  • After selecting the RESET option, further scroll down until you find the “WIFI” option.
  • Select it and program in it your desired wifi settings and then press ”OK”.

Schedule Reset:

  • Again repeat the first two steps of Factory Reset.
  • After selecting the RESET option, further scroll down until you find the “SCHEDULE” option.
  • Select the SCHEDULE option and press OK. You’re all sorted now.
